Blanca Isabel Rice

 Blanca Isabel rice is a black/purple rice bred and released in Louisiana because of its long-grain cooking quality, its beautiful purple color when cooked, and its its naturally  enhanced health benefits. This rice is reported to have health benefitting compounds normally found in blueberries, green tea, and red wine; as well as brown rice.

Blanca Isabel was developed by Dr. Milton C. Rush who was a rice pathologist at Louisiana State University for 39 years. This is a family business whose objective is to provide a low-fat, low-sodium product with natural compounds known for their health benefits and not found in most rice. We expect Blanca Isabel Purple Rice to become one of Louisiana’s unique food products like crawfish and blackened red fish.
